Short Biography
Dr. Furqan Ullah is an accomplished Senior R&D Engineer with extensive experience in a variety of roles across academia and industry. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his current position in the UK, where he is responsible for driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Ullah served as a Senior Lead Software Engineer and Technical Manager in Germany, where he was instrumental in the successful development and delivery of complex software systems. He has also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Computer Science at Dhofar University, Oman, and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Punjab, Pakistan.
Dr. Ullah's academic and research career is equally impressive, having held positions as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), University of California Berkeley, US, and as a Software Engineer, Technical Manager, and Team Head in the Korean industry.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Ullah has been the recipient of numerous awards, including four best conference papers, one best journal paper, best PhD dissertation, two bronze papers, and several extracurricular awards, acknowledging his contribution to the fields of computer science, computer vision, and imaging. He earned his BS degree in July 2006 from UAF, Pakistan, and later obtained his MS and PhD degrees from Myongji University, South Korea, in Feb 2009 and Feb 2014, respectively.
As an inventor, Dr. Ullah holds a patent related to 3D imaging and has developed several software applications related to 2D/3D computer vision and 3D imaging. These software applications are being used worldwide by well-reputed universities, researchers, and companies.
Dr. Ullah's research interests are broad and encompass a range of multidisciplinary fields, including 2D/3D computer vision, 3D reconstruction, 3D image processing and analysis, medical imaging, statistical shape modeling, machine learning, 3D industrial scanners and inspection systems, 3D measurement methods and systems, structured-light technology, computational geometry, geometric modeling and processing, and professional software development.
His research has been published in more than thirty-two journals and conference papers, cementing his reputation as a leading expert in the field.
